Tennessee man accused of stealing, crashing police car

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — Police in Tennessee say a man fleeing authorities stole a patrol car and then crashed it before trying to flee on foot.

News outlets report 37-year-old Michael Larson, of Memphis, was arrested on charges including stealing the patrol car.

Southaven police say officers were responding to a drug call Wednesday and encountered Larson, who they say had warrants out for his arrest in Horn Lake. The nature of the arrest warrants is unclear. Police say officers attempted to arrest Larson, but he stole the car and fled.

Police say he drove about 20 miles before crashing onto an elevated sidewalk and fleeing on foot. Memphis police say Larson fled to a home several blocks away and was later arrested.

Southaven police are investigating. It's unclear if Larson has a lawyer.
