Motorcycle riders who drive straight uphill on Dollar Mountain are tearing up the land, causing erosion and gullies, and damaging new trails under construction for hikers, joggers and mountain bikers. Motorcycle use is illegal on the city of Grants Pass-owned part of the mountain on the northwest edge of town.

Motorcyclists who like the off-trail challenge of riding straight uphill are running across and damaging newly built trails on Dollar Mountain, tearing up the soil and crushing wildflowers and newly planted tree seedlings.

Lost River scored seven runs in both the third and fourth innings as the Raiders beat Rogue River 16-3 in a five-inning non-league baseball game Wednesday in Rogue River.
The Chieftains (1-1) scored all three of their runs in the fourth inning.
Freshman Kohner Phillips went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and a run for Rogue River.
Malachi Scott added a hit, a run and was hit by a pitch in the loss. Brennen Rolfe scored the Chiefs' other run.

A former teacher accused of sexually abusing a Rogue River high school student was rearraigned Wednesday in Jackson County Circuit Court on a new indictment in the case.
Jesse Rex Orndoff, 30, pleaded not guilty to 16 counts, all felonies, in the indictment, including a charge of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct and two counts of online sexual corruption of a child in the second degree.
