TOUVELLE STATE PARK — Knowing what the Jackson County Sheriff's Office does is the No. 1 reason people give for taking part in a program known as Citizens Academy.

Illinois Valley sealed a berth in the state playoffs by taking both games of a District 6 doubleheader from Bonanza on Friday in Cave Junction.
The Cougars cruised to a 10-0 win in the opener and 16-6 in the nightcap.
The top two teams in District 6 automatically earn a spot in the Class 2A/1A state playoffs. Illinois Valley (13-4, 9-2) clinched second place Friday by sweeping Bonanza (7-8, 5-5), which will end up third.

Police responded to a report of plywood falling from a pickup truck and damaging another vehicle Saturday morning on Redwood Highway near Redwood Avenue. One man was arrested on a warrant and another man was cited for driving with a suspended license and no insurance.
