The Ashland City Council on Tuesday joined Jacksonville and Central Point in declining to move forward with helping to put a permanent service district tax for a new Jackson County animal shelter before voters any time soon.

Top-ranked Henley scored 10 runs in the last two innings for a huge 13-2 Skyline Conference win over Hidden Valley Tuesday in Murphy.
"Definitely not the result we had hoped for," Mustang coach Justin Spinner said. "The last couple of innings got kind of ugly and we let it get away from us."
After giving up a run in the top of the third, Hidden Valley (10-5, 4-1) answered with a double steal in the bottom half of the frame to tie the game.
