WILLIAMS — At the expansive Pacifica Garden education center outside Williams, Seth Croft, 11, showed Theo Tevenbaugh, 12, how to plant sunflower seeds in the soil in between larger plants.

Hidden Valley erupted for a huge second inning to clobber Brookings 11-2 in the afternoon game of the Stang Stampede Softball Tournament Friday in Murphy.
The Bruins (1-1) took a 2-1 lead in the top of second inning on an RBI-double from Brookings pitcher Emmy Armstrong.
The Mustangs responded in the bottom of the frame with a seven-run outburst — capped by hits from Aubree Schmidt, Scarlett Gordon and Mady Knable — that gave them an 8-2 lead.
