One of the key changes to the Josephine County charter that voters rejected last year was the hiring of a full-time county administrator to oversee the daily operations of government.

Taylor Young (31), a junior guard at Crater, shoots from short range during the Class 5A state championship game against South Albany last month. Young, who led the Comets to the state title one year after winning a state title with South Medford, was named the Oregon 5A Player of the Year this week. She scored 86 points in three state tournament games at Linfield University.

After leading the Comets to the Class 5A state championship in girls' basketball, Crater junior Taylor Young was named the 5A Player of the Year this week.
Young set a scoring record for the 5A state tournament, pouring in 86 points in three games and helping the Comets win the state crown against South Albany.
Young was also the Player of the Year in the Midwestern Conference and a unanimous first-team pick for the 5A all-tournament team.

A man accused of killing a woman in his trailer in the O'Brien area and then trying to cover it up went on trial this week in Josephine County Circuit Court.
Thomas Robert Fuerte, 37, is charged with first-degree murder with a firearm in the death of Aleah Aaron, a 25-year-old originally from Kentucky who disappeared in March 2023 after a night out with Fuerte in Cave Junction. Read More »
