Lease negotiations between Josephine County and the Josephine Community Library District short-circuited Thursday when a meeting failed to materialize and each side blamed the other for its cancellation.
With the fate of the Grants Pass library branch at stake, library district representatives say they expected to meet Thursday morning with the Josephine County Board of Commissioners, which wants to renegotiate the library building's $1-a-year lease. Read More »
Grants Pass senior Peyton Bruner was named the Southwest Conference's Defensive Player of the Year and also earned first-team all-conference honors after averaging 20 points and seven rebounds per game during the season.

Grants Pass senior Peyton Bruner was named the Defensive Player of the Year by the Southwest Conference coaches when the all-league boys' basketball awards were recently announced.

The Jackson County-based Southern Oregon Photographic Association has named the winning images from its March competition.
A total of 94 images were entered by 17 club members, 65 in the electronic image division and 29 prints.
In the electronic image division, traditional category, with 47 entries, three images shared first place. "Desert Wanderers" and "Vietnamese Merchant," both by Barbara Tricarico and "Juvenile Caracara" by Fran Yates took top honors.
