WHITE CITY — State Sen. Jeff Golden told an anxious crowd Saturday that he doesn't control the Oregon Legislature, but he could say with "a very high level of confidence that we are repealing the wildfire hazard map entirely."
Golden's remarks got a partial standing ovation from the crowd of about 200 people gathered for a town hall about the state wildfire map hosted by Jackson County Commissioner Colleen Roberts at White Mountain Middle School in White City. Read More »
Senior guard Jaren Fronckowiak hit a big 3-pointer and free throw late in the Challengers' 43-40 victory in the fourth-place game against De La Salle at the Class 3A boys' basketball state tournament Saturday at Marshfield High in Coos Bay.
Fronckowiak's second 3-pointer of the night put the No. 6 seed Challengers up 40-37, and then, with the scored tied again, he was fouled taking a 10-foot jumper on the left side with 37 seconds remaining, making the first free throw.

International Guitar Night, a touring guitar festival in its 25th year, is wrapping up its 2025 North American tour this month, including a stop in Grants Pass next week.
"I have been trying for 25 years to get IGN into the Rogue Theatre and am absolutely elated we finally have the chance to be featured there," said IGN founder Brian Gore.
