Chandler police ID shooting victim; Mum on possible suspect

CHANDLER, Ariz. (AP) — Police on Wednesday released the name of a man who was fatally shot in a Chandler neighborhood, but won't identify a possible suspect in the case.

They said 50-year-old Michael Payne of Chandler died at a hospital after the Monday night shooting.

Police said one person was taken into custody but hasn’t been arrested or identified publicly.

Investigating detectives still are trying to determine what led to the shooting.

Police said they are working with the Maricopa County Attorney’s Office for possible charging determination.
