Officials: Police shoot suspect at Georgia hospital

GAINESVILLE, Ga. (AP) — Two police officers and a suspect were taken to hospitals after a shooting in Georgia.

Gainesville police spokesman Kevin Holbrook told WSB-TV that a suspect was shot by officers Friday afternoon. He did not give details about the person's condition.

Northeast Georgia Medical Center spokeswoman Beth Downs told The Gainesville Times the shooting happened on hospital property but not inside the building.

Gainesville police say on social media that two officers were evaluated at the hospital but do not have any apparent injuries. The department says officers initially responded to the area because of a report of a gunman.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation tweeted that its agents are responding to the shooting at the request of Gainesville police.
