Maine company promises to rebuild after fire

WINSLOW, Maine (AP) — A prominent Winslow construction-supply company is promising to rebuild after a fast-moving fire mostly destroyed its main building.

The McCormack Building Supply facility in Winslow went up in flames at midday Friday.

In a Saturday social media post, the company said its owners and employees "will work diligently" to rebuild.

Winslow fire Chief Ronnie Rodriguez said no injuries were reported and all staff members had been accounted for.

Rodriguez said the main building was destroyed and minor damage occurred in the rear building.

Officials from the Maine Department of Environmental Protection were on site to help limit environmental impacts to the surrounding storm drains, as the building stocked oils and minerals.

McCormack Building Supply sells a variety of building materials and tools and offers drafting and design services.
