THORNTON, N.H. (AP) — A man who was shot by a Thornton police officer died at the scene, the attorney general's office said Tuesday.

Ethan Freeman, 37, died of his injuries on Monday, officials said. An autopsy performed Tuesday showed that Freeman died of two gunshot wounds to the chest, officials said.

No officers or other citizens were injured and there is no threat the public, officials said.

The name of the police officer involved is being withheld pending the conclusion of a formal interview, the attorney general's office said. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, authorities said.

There have been three officer-involved shootings in New Hampshire this year, including this latest one, according to the attorney general's office.

This story has been corrected to show the victim is Ethan, not Matthew. Authorities had wrongly identified him.
