2 teenagers charged in fatal shooting at Halloween party

LOCKPORT, N.Y. (AP) — Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with a shooting on Saturday at a Halloween party that killed a woman and injured five others in New York state.

Officials said on Wednesday that a 16-year-old and 17-year old have been arrested and are charged with intentional murder and weapons possession for opening fire onto people attending a Halloween party in Lockport, WGRV-TV reported.

Niagara County District Attorney Caroline Wojtaszek said she expected there are, “many more charges to be filed.” Investigators relied on video of the shooting to identify the people charged, the newspaper reported.

The two suspects are being held on $500,000 cash bail or $1 million bond and their next court appearance is scheduled for Monday. Officials did not name them.

The two teenagers are accused of firing through the door of a garage shortly after midnight on Saturday, killing college student Cheyenne Farewell and injuring five others, including two high school students.

A message was left with the Niagara County district attorney’s office seeking contact information for attorneys representing the two teenagers charged.
