Hit-And-Run Driver Kills Florida Woman In A Mobility Scooter

WESLEY CHAPEL, Fla. (AP) — A 64-year-old Florida woman in a mobility scooter was struck and killed while gathering mail at the edge of the road on Tuesday.

The woman who struck her in the Wesley Chapel neighborhood then fled the scene, the Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

Investigators used car parts found at the crash scene and witness accounts to identify a suspect. The 24-year-old woman was found several hours later sitting in her car. She was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death. She was taken to the Pasco County jail.
