Armstrong, who is entering his fourth year on head coach Will Wade's staff, has been promoted to associate head coach with a salary of $375,000 per year as he fills the spot recently vacated by Greg Heiar.

Armstrong “is one of the longest tenured assistants in the Southeastern Conference and has been a tireless worker with our players and in recruiting,” Wade said.

Before joining Wade at LSU in 2017, Armstrong spent six years as an assistant at Mississippi.

Nickelberry will move to a regular on-court assistant coaching role at $300,000 per year.

“He is someone I have known for over 15 years and coach Nick has the experience of over a decade as a head coach," Wade said. "He will be very valuable for our players and an elite recruiter.”

Nickelberry's career has included stints as head coach at Howard from 2010 to 2019, and before that at Hampton from 2006 to 2009. He also has been an assistant at Howard, Monmouth, Holy Cross, Charlotte and Clemson.
