Authorities: Peoria man, daughter died in small plane crash

CORDES LAKES, Ariz. (AP) — Authorities on Tuesday released the names of two people who were killed in the crash of a small plane in a remote area of Yavapai County.

The victims were 34-year-old William Engel Bell of the Phoenix suburb of Peoria and his 8-year-old daughter Amira Caballero, according to sheriff's officials.

Authorities said the two were the only persons aboard the single-engine Lancair 235 that was reported missing after departing Saturday from Deer Valley Airport near Phoenix for Page Municipal Airport.

An Arizona Department of Public Safety helicopter located the wreckage of the plane about 5 ½ miles east southeast of Cordes Lakes shortly after noon Monday, sheriff's officials said.

Rescue crews reported from the scene that the plane was found upside down on its wings and the two people aboard were dead.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board will be investigating the cause of the crash.
