4 injured in house explosion in Kentucky, cause investigated

BRANDENBURG, Ky. (AP) — Four people were injured when a house exploded Thursday in Kentucky, officials said.

The explosion in Brandenburg happened shortly before noon on Old Ekron Road, news outlets reported.

The injured were taken to hospitals, but the extent of their injuries wasn't immediately known. When crews arrived at the scene, they found the four injured people in the front yard, Brandenburg Police Chief Brian Haag said.

The cause of the explosion was under investigation, he said.

Louisville Gas and Electric shut off natural gas to the area, spokeswoman Chris Whelan said, but she said there was no confirmation of a problem with the gas lines.
