ST. LOUIS (AP) — A man who police said shot a St. Louis man in front of the victim's 4-year-old son was being held Thursday on $1 million cash bail.
Eric L. Carless, 28, of north St. Louis County, was charged Wednesday with second-degree murder in the Nov. 1 death Steven Strong-Patterson, county police Sgt. Benjamin Granda said.
Strong-Patterson, 24, was shot several times while sitting in a car with his son at an apartment complex. The child was not injured, Granda said.
Carless was also charged with armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm. He does not have an attorney listed in online court records for this case.
He was on probation in St. Louis County in a Florissant case from 2017. Court documents show that Carless pleaded guilty to unlawful use of a firearm and tampering with a motor vehicle.
