Train derailment closes some roads in South Carolina

RIDGEVILLE, S.C. (AP) — A train derailment in South Carolina has closed nearby roads for the day.

Dorchester County Spokeswoman Tiffany Norton says a Norfolk Southern train derailed Friday morning near Ridgeville, about 35 miles (56 kilometers) outside Charleston.

The Post and Courier reports that Norton says the accident is "non-hazardous" and there were no injuries.

Orangeburg Road and Campbell Thickett Road near the derailment site are expected to reopen Saturday evening.
