HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) — Two south Mississippi men face additional criminal charges after they were recaptured following a jail escape.
Local news outlets report 26-year-old Carlos Sibley and 29-year-old Donaven Harris were recaptured Saturday in Hattiesburg after escaping from the Forrest County jail Friday night.
Forrest County Sheriff's Chief Investigator Phillip Hendricks says the two breached a cell window and jail fence. He says authorities are examining seized telephones to determine if the two had help escaping.
Hendricks says the men were found with cash and jewelry when recaptured. It's unclear how they got the items.
Sibley pleaded guilty to second-degree murder charges in September. Harris was convicted of armed robbery and faces two aggravated assault charges. Both could now face felony escape and felony malicious mischief charges.
Hendricks says the jail increased security.
