ROLLA, Mo. (AP) — A man was killed when he and another man exchanged gunfire during a dispute over a custody situation, Rolla police said.
Terry Brown, 27, died after being shot at his home on Monday, Rolla police said in a news release.
Devon Johnson, 27, of Rolla, went to Brown's home to discuss a child custody situation with Brown. The two men argued, Brown went into his home to retrieve a weapon and then fired several shots at Johnson, police said.
Johnson got a gun from his vehicle and returned fire, injuring Brown, who died later at a Rolla hospital, police said.
Police say Johnson cooperated and surrendered without incident.
No criminal charges have been filed in the shooting as of Tuesday. Johnson was being held on an unrelated outstanding warrant.
