MILFORD, Del. (AP) — A 2-year-old boy from Dover was hit by a car and killed while standing in a road in the Milford area on Wednesday night, Delaware State Police said.
The boy was visiting family at a home on Slaughter Beach Road and was standing in the westbound lane wearing dark clothes around 8 p.m., police said in a news release Thursday. A passing motorist stopped in the eastbound lane, trying to make contact with the child, but a driver in westbound lane negotiating a slight curve didn’t see the boy and hit him, police said.
The boy was taken to an area hospital and was then pronounced dead on the way to Nemours Children’s Hospital, police said.
