WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Police in Wichita have made an arrest in a drive-by shooting earlier this week that injured an i11-year-old girl.
Byron Monroe Purcell, 25, of Wichita, was arrested Thursday and booked on counts of aggravated assault, aggravated battery and weapons, drug and parole violation charges, police said.
He’s accused of being the gunman in a shooting that happened early Tuesday in the city’s Ken-Mar neighborhood in which bullets hit a house. An 11-year-old girl in the house was asleep in her bed when she was hit by the gunfire, police said. She was taken to a hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police said four other people in the home at the time of the shooting were not injured.
