• ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Veteran left-hander Danny Duffy is going to spring training with the Texas Rangers on a minor league contract for the second year in a row, still looking to pitch in the majors for the first time since surgery for a left flexor tendon injury in 2021.

    The defending World Series champions on Monday announced that Duffy, catcher José Godoy and left-hander Chasen Shreve signed minor league deals with invitations to spring training. That gives Texas 27 non-roster invitees to spring training in Arizona later this month.

    NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. coach Gregg Berhalter plans to have Sergiño Dest at the team's training camp for the CONCACAF Nations League final four next month, even though the defender is suspended for the March 21 semifinal against Jamaica.

    The 23-year-old outside back lost his composure in a needless dispute with the referee during November's quarterfinal second leg at Trinidad and Tobago, getting a pair of yellow cards for dissent in a 30-second span.

    NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Titans have coach Brian Callahan 's first additions to his coaching staff with Nick Holz as his offensive coordinator and Dennard Wilson as defensive coordinator.

    The Titans announced Monday that they agreed to terms with Holz and Wilson. Both will be in their first roles as coordinators in the NFL.

    LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Philadelphia Eagles will be the host team for the NFL's first regular-season game in Brazil on Friday, Sept. 6 — a day after the 2024 season opener, Commissioner Roger Goodell said Monday.

    LAS VEGAS (AP) — Amid warnings about counterfeit goods, human trafficking and illegal drones at the Super Bowl in Las Vegas, federal, state and local security officials said Monday they're preparing for a busy week in the air, at airports, at Allegiant Stadium and in merchandise shops as crowds arrive for the NFL championship game.

    CLEVELAND (AP) — Donovan Mitchell was stuck in the foul lane after picking up his dribble, so he tossed the ball off the backboard to himself and dunked.

    “I've never thrown it left-handed," Cleveland’s All-Star guard said with a laugh. "Sometimes you just make (stuff) up.”

    The Cavaliers can do no wrong right now.

    Mitchell scored 29 points, Max Strus added 22 and Cleveland beat the Sacramento Kings 136-110 on Monday night for its sixth straight win and 14th in 15 games.

    RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Aziaha James scored 28 points to help No. 3 North Carolina State outlast No. 15 Louisville 77-67 in front of a sellout crowd on Monday night.

    James shot 10-of-18 from the floor and had seven rebounds for the Wolfpack (20-2, 8-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) in their fifth straight win. N.C. State was also boosted by 12 points and 10 rebounds from Madison Hayes and 10 points from River Baldwin.

  • HAMMOND, La. (AP) — Roger McFarlane and Nick Caldwell scored 18 points apiece to lead Southeastern Louisiana to a 76-64 victory over Incarnate Word on Monday night.

    McFarlane added seven rebounds for the Lions (10-13, 5-5 Southland Conference). Caldwell sank 8 of 10 shots and grabbed eight boards. Alec Woodard hit three 3-pointers and scored 16.

    Sky Wicks finished with 15 points and two blocks for the Cardinals (7-15, 2-7). Josiah Hammons added 14 points. Alex Anderson totaled 13 points and seven assists.
