MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) — A Georgia high school teacher was arrested after police said he had sex with a 17-year-old student in his office.
Zachary White, a graphic design teacher at Osborne High School in Marietta, was charged with two felony counts of sexual assault by a teacher.
White, 29, has been held without bond since his Nov. 4 arrest, according to jail records. There isn’t an attorney on record who could comment on his behalf.
Principal Joshua Morreale said in a letter to parents that the school has “no reason to believe these allegations threaten any other Osborne students.” The teacher isn’t allowed on campus while the charges are investigated.
Another Marietta teacher was arrested for inappropriate actions with a student the day before. News outlets report that Matthew Anderson, who taught eighth grade and coached at The Walker School, is accused of sending sexual messages to a 14-year-old former student.
Anderson was released from jail on a $15,000 bond, and jail records don't list a defense attorney. He no longer works at the private school, spokesperson Helen Baily said in a statement shared by WGCL-TV.
