WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A Wichita man man arrested on suspicion of murder has been released from prison while an investigation continues.
Charles Burnham, 28, was arrested Tuesday after his roommate died. He was being held on $500,000 bond facing a possible first-degree murder charge.
Police said after the 27-year-old suicidal man shot himself, Burnham retrieved the gun and shot him two more times.
Police presented the case to the district attorney's office on Wednesday, KSNW-TV reported.
After the meeting, a spokesman for District Attorney Marc Bennett said Burnham “was released from custody pending further investigation.”
