COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — A Mississippi city's top financial officer is resigning.
Deliah Vaughn, chief financial officer for the City of Columbus, submitted her two-week notice last week, WCBI-TV reported.
She was hired in April 2019 to replace Milton Rawle, who pleaded guilty to one count of embezzlement for stealing nearly $290,00 city funds.
Vaughn came to Columbus from Tunica County. Mayor Keith Gaskin told the television station that Vaughn is leaving for a post in the City of West Point.
Gaskin said while someone will be hired on an interim basis, he wants to look at the position to see if it needs to be revamped before a permanent replacement is hired.
