2 Shot To Death At Apartments In Small Mississippi Town

CRENSHAW, Miss. (AP) — Authorities were searching for suspects Monday after shootings killed two people and wounded three at an apartment complex in a small town in north Mississippi.

Investigators said they found 60 to 100 rounds fired from multiple firearms throughout the apartment complex Sunday night in Crenshaw, news outlets reported.

The town has a population of about 1,100, and it is roughly 50 miles (80 kilometers) south of Memphis, Tennessee.

The Quitman County Sheriff's Department said those killed were 24-year-old Derrick Small Jr. and 19-year-old Deshun Anderson.

Two men and a 19-year-old woman were taken to a Memphis hospital from the Marie Lyles Meadows complex.

Derrick Small Sr. told WREG-TV that seeing his son unresponsive was a nightmare.

“He was laying in the hallway, laying on his side. They wouldn’t let me get to him,” Small said. “Let me hold my son, let me hold my son.”

WMC-TV reported that the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is helping local authorities with the case.
