Second Suspect Charged In Lake Park Woman's Death

LAKE PARK, Iowa (AP) — A second suspect has been charged in the death of a Lake Park woman in December.

Justice Berntson, 23, was charged Thursday with first-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Angel Bastman. He was arrested at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility and his bond was set at $1 million.

Allison Decker, 26, was charged earlier this week in Dickinson County District Court with first-degree murder in Bastman's death.

Bastman's body was found Dec. 22 at her home. Authorities have not said how she died, The Sioux City Journal reported.

Police found Bernston, of Elk Point, South Dakota, driving Bastman's rental car in Sioux City four days after her body was found. He was arrested after he crashed the car during a police chase, authorities said.

Berntson is currently serving a five-year prison sentence for a December 2019 burglary conviction in Dickinson County.
