Police Cite Distracted Driving In Fatal Maine Car Crash

PEMBROKE, Maine (AP) — Maine police said a crash in the rural town of Pembroke caused the death of a 58-year-old.

The crash happened just after 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, when a vehicle driven by 58-year-old Hardy Preston, of Edmunds Township, collided with one driven by a 17-year-old from Marion Township, police said.

The teen driver crossed the center line and struck Preston's vehicle head-on. Police said distracted driving and driving too fast appeared to contribute to the crash.

The teen was transported to a hospital in Calais for minor injuries, they said.
