DAWSON, Ga. (AP) — A man accused of killing three people in southwest Georgia remained hospitalized Tuesday, a day after he was arrested.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Monday charged 54-year-old Larry Eugene Calloway of Parrot with three counts of felony murder after three people were found shot in Terrell County.
Officials found John Baisden Sr., 54, and Joshua Brown, 19, shot dead at a home in Bronwood. Later, 57-year-old Ida Mae Johnson was found shot at a home in Dawson. She died before she could be taken to the hospital.
Agents say Calloway was in a relationship with a relative of the victims, but didn’t explain exactly how Calloway was connected or why he might have wanted to kill the people.
Calloway was captured later Monday after he flipped a vehicle he was driving, authorities said. He ran away and was later captured in Parrot.
The suspect was taken to an Albany hospital because officials say he had swallowed some pills. The Terrell County sheriff’s office said Calloway remained hospitalized Tuesday. He’s supposed to be taken to the Terrell County jail once he’s released. It's unclear if Calloway has a lawyer.
A GBI spokesperson didn't immediately respond Tuesday to questions from The Associated Press.
