The Hoboken, New Jersey-based company said it had a loss of $2.08 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to 59 cents per share.

The publisher posted revenue of $460.7 million in the period.

John Wiley & Sons expects full-year earnings in the range of $2.45 to $2.65 per share.
