Editorial: What’s The Plan?

The Senate is keeping people in suspense about how it thinks Mississippi should expand Medicaid to cover mostly the working poor.

After weeks of saying it would be introducing its own plan by Thursday’s deadline, the Senate instead has decided to take the House-passed measure and amend it to the Senate’s liking, according to Medicaid Committee Chairman Kevin Blackwell.

One major sticking point apparently is how firm to be about a work requirement for beneficiaries.

Maybe the Senate has a better idea for how to expand Medicaid and get it past Gov. Tate Reeves’ opposition, but until it shows its hand, there’s no way to tell.
