ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Ronald Curry is going from working with Derek Carr in New Orleans to Josh Allen in Buffalo after being hired as the Bills quarterbacks coach on Wednesday.

Curry fills the role left open by Joe Brady, who took over as Buffalo’s interim offensive coordinator in November and was hired for the job on a full-time basis last week. The former NFL receiver spent the past eight years with the Saints, where he previously worked with Brady during the 2017 and ’18 seasons.

Curry served as New Orleans’ passing game coordinator/quarterbacks coach the past two years under Dennis Allen, and previously served as the team’s receivers coach under former head coach Sean Payton.

Curry has overseen a revolving door of players during his three seasons as quarterbacks coach in taking over the job in 2021, a year following Drew Brees’ retirement. In that time, New Orleans’ starters have included Carr, Jameis Winston, Trevor Siemian, Andy Dalton and even converted tight end Taysom Hill.

In Buffalo, the Bills have stability at the position with Allen entering his seventh season as starter and the team’s unquestioned leader.

Curry has 11 seasons of NFL coaching experience following a seven-year career as a receiver with the Raiders (2002-08).

His hiring was announced as part of a series of offseason additions to coach Sean McDermott’s staff.

Jahmile Addae was hired as the team’s cornerbacks coach and Christian Taylor as a defensive quality control coach.

A person with direct knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press that Addae replaces defensive backs coach/passing game coordinator John Butler, who reached a mutual agreement with the team to not return after six seasons in Buffalo. The person spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity because the team did not reveal Butler’s departure, which comes after the Bills promoted linebackers coach Bobby Babich to defensive coordinator.

Addae spent the previous 17 seasons as a college coach, including the past two overseeing the Miami Hurricanes secondary.

Taylor has 16 years of college coaching experience, including spending the past four as offensive coordinator/running backs coach at his alma mater, William & Mary.
