ASHLAND — A helicopter flew above the rugged, forested hillsides of Siskiyou Mountain Park on Friday, a bundle of logs dangling from a long cable.

Pitchers Luke Morgan and Troy Osborne gave Grants Pass two outstanding starts as the Cavemen swept a huge baseball doubleheader from 10th-ranked Willamette to take over first place in the Southwest Conference on Friday at George Russell Field.
Morgan went 62/3 innings before reaching his pitch limit, striking out 10 and scattering five hits in GP's 1-0 win in the opener.

During meetings this coming week, the Grants Pass City Council will hear an update on a proposed Caveman Pool replacement project, consider an appeal by neighbors of an RV park, and weigh in on a public mural controversy.
At 11:45 a.m. Monday in the Council Chambers, 101 N.W. A St., the council will meet in a workshop to discuss the $10.2 million to $13.6 million estimated cost of replacing the public pool with two pools, a water slide, a diving board and other features. Read More »
