The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.04 per share.

The infrastructure equipment maker posted revenue of $1.04 billion in the period, missing Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.06 billion.

Valmont expects full-year earnings to be $16.50 to $17.30 per share.
