The Ankeny, Iowa-based company said it had net income of $4.85 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.24 per share.

The convenience store chain posted revenue of $3.95 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $4.01 billion.

Casey's shares have risen 52% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $418.24, a climb of 52% in the last 12 months.
