Artist Melissa Ghiglieri stands below one of her murals at Hawthorne Park in Medford. Her proposal to paint a dog-themed mural for a downtown Grants Pass alley was rejected by the city's Historical Buildings and Sites Commission and the City Council.

When artist Melissa Ghiglieri was painting murals on pillars supporting the Interstate 5 viaduct through downtown Medford, she said her playful mural of dogs dressed in human clothes attracted the most attention.

She painted the murals in 2022 on a section of the viaduct that passes over Hawthorne Park and the Bear Creek Greenway, a popular walking, jogging and biking path. Read More »
