River Valley Church of Grants Pass said Sunday it has purchased the Flying Lark, the mothballed racino built by Travis Boersma that never opened to the public.

Josephine County Commissioner Herman Baertschiger Jr. verified Monday the county has accepted an offer from River Valley Church to buy the Flying Lark for $9.5 million.

Pitchers Luke Morgan and Troy Osborne gave Grants Pass two outstanding starts as the Cavemen swept a huge baseball doubleheader from 10th-ranked Willamette to take over first place in the Southwest Conference on Friday at George Russell Field.
Morgan went 62/3 innings before reaching his pitch limit, striking out 10 and scattering five hits in GP's 1-0 win in the opener.

At Morrison Centennial Park on Saturday morning, two truck loads of hazardous waste including syringes and feces were removed, police observed graffiti in the men's bathroom, three people with trash and drug items were cited for offensive littering and a woman was cited for fentanyl possession. All four people were issued 30-day exclusion orders from the park.
